Adult Bible Class - Led by Dr. Robert Guthrie, this class will continue their study of the Bible with the book of Job. No experience needed. The only book needed is your Bible!
Adult Discussion Class The Adult Discussion class will begin a new study by William Barclay called The Letter to the Romans. Both in mood and in method, Romans is an entirely differently epistle than Paul’s other writings. Instead of being concerned with immediate, practical problems, the apostle sets down in a systematic fashion the essence of his faith, handing down in a sense a “theological last will and testament.” In ways that no other writing of the New Testament has achieved, the ideas expressed in the letter to the Romans have shaped formatively the whole of Christian belief. Barclay’s fresh translation and clear exposition allow readers the chance to see the heart of Paul’s gospel. All persons of the church are invited to join this class on Sunday mornings at 9:45 a.m.
Contemporary Christian Living Class The Contemporary Christian Living class will begin meeting Sunday, September 9, at 9:45 a.m. Jennifer Sonnenberg and Shelly Detwiler will lead the class. The first 8 week study will be “An Ordinary Day with Jesus – Experiencing the Reality of God in Your Everyday Life.” Learn how to invite Christ to work along you, eliminate hurry and simplify your pace of life, open everyday relationships to him, learning even from difficult people. The video/discussion study is by John Rothberg. Student books are available for $8, but not required. Please see Denise if you would like to order a participant’s workbook.
DISCIPLE I INTRODUCTION TO GENESIS This study approaches the Book of Genesis, not simply as a story of the beginning, but as a story of beginnings from start to finish… Participants will be invited to listen afresh to the witness of this opening book of the Hebrew Bible and to understand, more clearly, God’s purpose in beginning to form a people with the likes of Adam and Eve, Abraham and Sarah, and Jacob and Esau. Disciple is open to people of all walks of faith. If you feel you don’t really know too much about the Bible, Disciple will give you the opportunity to not only grow in knowledge, but in your faith and friendships with others of our congregation.
The class will be offered at 7:00 p.m., beginning Thursday, September 13, and going for 8 weeks. If you are interested in joining this class, please sign up in the church lobby or call Denise (873-8851). The book is available in the church office ($10). Please read the first chapter by September 13.
