LOCAL MISSIONS

Thanksgiving Dinners
In November, Jerome Church will serve Thanksgiving dinner to more than 500 people at our two local mission partnerships, Church for All People (on November 19) and the Common Ground Free Store (on November 20). Many items and volunteers are needed for both dinners. Click below to sign up to provide food or volunteer.

Church for All People (Downtown Columbus)
Jerome Church partners with the Community Development and Church for All People in downtown Columbus for a number of ongoing and annual mission events. Weekly, “Soup for the Soul” volunteers make and serve soup and other items to homeless and others in the community served by the Church for All People. Look for sign-ups in the lobby for this important weekly ministry. Annual mission opportunities include a Thanksgiving Dinner and a Christmas Eve dinner.

Miracle on William Street, in partnership with Common Ground
During November, Jerome Church partners with the Common Ground Free Store to provide Christmas gifts for families through the Miracle on William Street in Delaware, Ohio. Additional volunteers are needed for this special event to assist families as they shop for Christmas gifts.

The Diaper Angels
Diapers are collected through donation and diaper drives, are organized at the church and then distributed to various partner agencies (food pantries, at the Church for All People, etc.) in the area. Donations of diapers and wipes are always needed and can be dropped off to the Jerome Church office during business hours. Volunteers are needed to help with collection, sorting, distribution and other tasks including seeking funding opportunities and new partner agencies.

Habitat for Humanity
Jerome Church is part of the Dublin Habitat Partnership, a non-profit organization working in partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Columbus and other area churches to build affordable homes, empower families, and develop the community. Jerome Church supports this partnership by providing volunteers, financial support and involvement with fundraising events. This occurs at various times a year all year round weather permitting.

Learn more about our missions strategy

Biblical Foundation Acts 1:8 is our biblical foundation for missions at Jerome Church; imagining concentric circles for how we reach out through missions at the local, national, and international levels. Our goal is to have all of those types of missions in the Jerome “portfolio”, while changing lives through living out the missions values below.

Missions Values
Built on the biblical foundation of Acts 1:8, all missions at Jerome Church will live into the following values:
  • Involve as many people in the church and community as possible
  • Every mission involves as many “layers” of the congregation as possible (ages, interests, demographics, etc.)
  • Goal is for 75% of our worshiping congregation to participate in missions in a 12 month period; the majority of people will participate in a local mission or mission event.
  • Small groups/individuals will seek ways to serve in already existing missions before creating new missions/service opportunities; current opportunities must meet capacity before new missions are added.Do less to do more: being strategic about the missions we participate in as “all church” missions helps us make a greater kingdom impact.
  • Student Ministry plans 3-4 “big-event”, annual missions; as well as each small group participating in existing “all church” local missions.
