WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY It’s not what you think

Everybody wants to be happy. Everybody is on a happiness quest. For many, happiness is measured in moments; in experiences; or in accumulation. We occasionally catch a glimpse of happiness, but never quite get ahold of it. What makes you happy? It’s impossible to market and sell true happiness…not the real stuff – not lasting happiness. The path to true happiness is simple to understand but challenging to follow. It requires living with intentionality. It demands letting go of assumptions. It means looking through new lenses. During these weeks we will discover and uncover, from the master designer of humanity, what makes you happy.
If never had a drink from the refreshing fountain of teaching of Andy Stanley…In for a treat.
Here is the weekly rhythm:
Come to Sunday worship to hear the sermon and experience the theme of the week (all David).
Do your reading – both the book and the devotions
Go to Group – and process your learning in community (all Andy)
1. Nothing: No-Thing will make me happy. Who, Not What…i.e. Jesus
2. Plan for It: Beatitudes; (Happiness is a result of) Living without regret or guilt;
3. Peace With God: Making peace with God makes it possible to have peace with others; Peace with God begins with faith in Christ.
4. Happy Money: Cannot serve God and Stuff. Greed is an appetite that drives discontent. “Giving will bring joy; Saving will bring peace; Living on the Rest will bring Freedom.”
5. Shoes: Pleasure becomes a habit, becomes a prison. Trouble is self-inflicted. 8Choose another path.
6. You’re Not Enough: You cannot fulfill You…I am designed to live in community…With Open Hands…
